We are currently looking for a Fire Door Surveyor to work in our large-scale, modern residential development located in Colindale (NW9).

The Fire Door Surveyor is responsible for ensuring all communal fire doors meet current fire safety legislation and relevant British Standards. You will carry out detailed inspections, identify defects, produce accurate reports, and work closely with contractors and the site management team to ensure remedial works are completed efficiently.

Exceptional attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and a proactive approach are essential. You must be confident working independently whilst maintaining excellent communication with colleagues, contractors and residents.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Carry out planned inspections of approximately 1,500 communal fire doors four times per year across the development.
• Inspect fire doors, frames, glazing, seals, ironmongery and associated components in accordance with current legislation and industry standards.
• Identify defects and recommend appropriate remedial works.
• Produce detailed inspection reports using digital surveying software.
• Maintain accurate photographic records and inspection documentation.
• Monitor inspection programmes to ensure compliance deadlines are achieved.
• Liaise with contractors regarding remedial works and follow-up inspections.
• Report any critical fire safety concerns immediately to management.
• Ensure compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order, the Fire Safety Act and relevant British Standards.
• Be office-based when not carrying out surveys, providing administrative and operational support to the wider team as required.
• Assist colleagues with compliance records, documentation and general office duties.
• Maintain excellent working relationships with residents, contractors and the site management team.
• Keep up to date with changes in fire safety legislation and industry best practice.

• Comply with all company policies and procedures.
• Adhere to Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work.
• Wear appropriate PPE whilst undertaking inspections.
• Maintain company equipment and surveying devices.
• Attend training and professional development courses where required.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by the Operations Manager.

Essential Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience carrying out fire door inspections or surveys.
• Good working knowledge of current fire safety legislation and British Standards.
• FDIS Diploma, BM TRADA or equivalent qualification desirable.
• Strong report writing and IT skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to manage your own workload and meet inspection deadlines.
• Professional, reliable and customer-focused approach.
• Full UK Driving Licence preferred.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday (09:00-17:00)

Salary: £50,000 per annum
