Location: South West London
Salary: £40,000 – £50,000
Hours: 40 hours per week, 5 out of 7 days. Flexibility is required, including occasional evenings and weekends to support operational and event requirements.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Facilities Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a busy, multi-use building comprising educational, residential and commercial event spaces.
This is a varied, hands-on role responsible for ensuring the building operates safely and efficiently while delivering an excellent experience for students, tenants, visitors and event clients. The successful candidate will work closely with maintenance teams, external contractors and senior management, while leading front-of-house operations and supporting commercial activities.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities & Building Management

Manage the day-to-day operation of the building and its facilities.

Oversee planned and reactive maintenance alongside the maintenance team.

Coordinate external contractors, including cleaning, catering and other service providers.

Carry out regular building inspections and risk assessments.

Monitor stock levels and order building consumables.

Ensure facilities are maintained to a high standard at all times.

Manage facilities budgets and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
Health & Safety
-
Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety legislation and building regulations.

Maintain accurate compliance records and documentation.

Oversee fire safety procedures, alarm testing, drills and emergency planning.

Support water hygiene and statutory compliance programmes.

Act as a First Aider and respond appropriately to emergencies.
Events & Commercial Operations

Coordinate internal and external events and room bookings.

Oversee room layouts and event set-ups.

Support the operation of AV equipment where required.

Liaise with finance regarding event pricing, invoicing and commercial activity.
Team Management

Manage and support front-of-house and facilities staff.

Prepare staff rotas to meet operational requirements.

Oversee contractor performance and service delivery.

Recruit, onboard, train and develop team members.

Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and support.
About You
-
Previous Facilities Management experience within a commercial, residential, hospitality or mixed-use environment.

Experience managing contractors, facilities services and operational teams.

Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and building compliance.

Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.

Confident managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Professional, customer-focused and able to build strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

Comfortable responding to emergencies and out-of-hours operational issues when required.
Desirable
-
Facilities Management qualification (CFM, FMP or equivalent).

IOSH and/or NEBOSH qualification.

Valid First Aid qualification.

Experience managing events or commercial venues.
