Building Technician

Location: Stratford
Salary: £41,500 per annum
Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00am-4:00pm

Overview

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Building Technician to join a large residential development in East London.

You will work as part of an established maintenance team alongside Building Technicians and Maintenance Operatives, helping to keep the development safe, well maintained and running efficiently.

This is a hands-on technical role covering both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works across a large and busy residential environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across the development.
• Respond to and complete reactive maintenance requests.
• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs where appropriate.
• Undertake electrical and general building services maintenance.
• Carry out basic plumbing, carpentry and general building repairs as required.
• Complete regular building inspections and routine maintenance checks.
• Identify issues requiring specialist attention and escalate accordingly.
• Work closely with Maintenance Operatives and the wider site team to ensure works are completed efficiently.
• Record completed works and update maintenance systems as required.
• Support health & safety requirements and ensure all maintenance activities are carried out safely.
• Assist with maintaining communal areas, plant rooms and shared facilities to a high standard.
• Respond promptly to urgent maintenance issues and help minimise disruption to residents.
• Support the wider team with general building and maintenance requirements.

About You

• Previous experience as a Building Technician, Maintenance Operative, Electrical Technician or similar.
• Ideally qualified in Electrical Engineering/Electrical Installation, or hold another relevant building services or maintenance qualification.
• Strong practical and technical maintenance skills.
• Experience carrying out both PPM and reactive maintenance.
• Good understanding of electrical systems, with additional knowledge of plumbing, carpentry and general building works advantageous.
• Strong understanding of health & safety and compliance within a maintenance environment.
• Able to diagnose faults and take a proactive approach to resolving issues.
• Reliable, organised and able to manage a varied workload.
• Comfortable working as part of a larger maintenance team.
• Professional and approachable when working within a residential environment.
• Good communication skills and a strong attention to detail.
